Chancellor Jan Hamby, RADM (Ret.), USN, welcomed graduates, faculty members, and guests, and recognized the sponsors of the college’s Faculty Chair positions: Lockheed Martin, Department of Energy, Department of State, and the Defense Information Systems Agency.
Nearly 180 students graduated from the college’s multiple certificate programs, including Chief Information Officer (CIO), Chief Financial Officer (CFO), Cyber Security, Cyber Leadership, Enterprise Architecture, IT Program Management, and the Advanced Management Program.
The following students were recognized as top achievers in their respective programs:
· David Lubinsky, Advanced Management;
· Paul Agosta, Chief Information Officer;
· John Killgallon, Enterprise Architecture;
· Robert Knight, IT Program Management; and
· Merrick Krause, Chief Financial Officer.
Dr. Jim Chen was awarded the John M. Carabello Award for outstanding faculty member in 2014-2015.
Ms. Joyce France was recognized as the iCollege’s 2015 Distinguished Advocate, and Mr. Sonny Bhagowalia was recognized as the 2015 Distinguished Alumnus (photo above). Their photos will be displayed in the NDU iCollege Hall of Fame.
Mr. Bhagowalia, who serves as the Department of Treasury’s CIO, told graduates to “seize the opportunity to do good things, be ready to adapt to a world of constant change, and use your core values to guide your leadership decisions.” He said that iCollege students receive an outstanding education at what he considers to be “the best CIO and cyber university in the world.”
The NDU iCollege is a DoD institution that educates and prepares selected military and civilian leaders and advisors to develop and implement cyberspace strategies, and to leverage information and technology to advance national and global security. Although most students are military or DoD civilians, the school also accepts federal agency, private sector, and international students into its graduate programs. Courses are completed on campus and/or online.
